Make a sauce with oil, chopped onion, carrot and let it fry. If we see that the vegetables are still hard, add a little water. Then add the diced ham, the diced potato and the tomato (if you don't have canned tomatoes, you can also add a handful of chopped tomatoes).

When it is golden brown, add boiling water to cover the potato and let it cook until the potato is ready (you can prick it with a knife). Do not let too much water evaporate, if that happens, add more. Add salt and pepper to taste

With a fork, mash a few squares of potatoes, depending on how creamy you want it.

Add a little water and add the pasta (raw). Be careful because there will be a lot of ingredients in the pot and little water, so you have to stir a lot and add water if needed, but never too much.

When the pasta is ready (it has to be soft, not al dente) add the cheese (I used grated Gouda, but it can be any other type of grated or diced soft cheese). Stir and let stand covered. Serve after five minutes
